What happens to non-expiring egift cards if ....

  1. the organization that sold the egift card is closed down/no longer exists?
  2. the product for which the egift card is no longer offered?

We are a 501c3 nonprofit. We are thinking about offering egift cards for a specific purpose - for people to be able to pay for a dedicated brick that is placed in a public park, and give it as a gift to someone. The recipient would then decide on a dedication and location, our organization would get the brick engraved with that dedication and have it placed.

What happens to an egift card if our organization no longer exists, or if the government entity that owns the public park no longer allows brick dedications?

The first answer is in the disclaimer when buying a egift card.

It says for the customer:

"By completing this purchase, I acknowledge that I am liable for any loss associated with the gift card purchase in the event that the seller is unable to fulfill the goods or services."

Come to think of it, that actually answers both questions. It is up to your organization how they choose to honor an egift card if that situation did come up.
