What happened to the old version of the Square Online Store?

I saw a post that I can't find anymore that said Square is going to discontinue support to the old Square sites, is this true?

Yes, it is now Weebly!  Good luck figuring it out!

I'd just like to keep the old Squareup store if possible because Weebly is missing things that are needed for a website anyway, like a place for GTIN/UPC Codes, and flat rate shipping with additional shipping cost just to name a couple.

We're sorry to hear that this change has caused some uncertainty and friction for both of you, @pookievale and @swts4u. There is not a way to revert back to the legacy version of the Square Online Store.

Although there is not an official place to include a bar code, you should be able to add the GTIN/UPC code to the item description. I’m not sure if this would work for your business, but I wanted to be sure to include the suggestion as a possible workaround here, @pookievale.

When you ask about the ability to apply flat rate shipping plus additional shipping costs, are you interested in applying these shipping rates to all products, or only certain ones?

I apologize for the long delay. However, I liked the Squareup store because I could add a base flat rate shipping cost then if my other items cost more to ship I could just add the difference on the product page, including a shipping cost for size/color variants for each item. Now, with this new Weebly store, none of these options are available. If you all were going to start this new Weebly site it would have been wise to transfer the same shipping options (or similar) to this site because any of us who were using those shipping options are either in limbo or have to change the complete shipping setup, like me.

I have left this site numerous times and come back trying to figure out a way to make this new shipping setup in Weebly work for me, but nothing at all comes to mind. I use suppliers for some of my inventory and the flat rate shipping and/or the order total shipping options just don't cut it for me, especially when shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, the Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico, an additional item shipping charge is a must to ship to these destinations.

In addition, the other shipping options offered are definitely not an option for me either (smh). I love Squareup and I'm glad they've taken over Weebly, I just need your tech team to add what I need to the shipping section and product page as there are some items I need to add an additional cost to for size/color in addition to the additional item shipping cost.

One other thing. What is that Default Rate good for? I know the purpose of it, but I don't see how it's really of any use if the shipping settings are set up accordingly.

Hey @pookievale.

I appreciate you taking the time to provide this feedback/insight.

I am a little confused by your comments on shipping with the new Square Online Store (powered by Weebly). Within the Shipping Settings of the Online Store, you should see the following options:

One of which is a flat rate option.

If you'd like to increase the cost per item, you can still add variations in the Item Library to be reflected in your Online Store. Is this what you were referring to? We tried to carry over as many like-able features from our original (legacy) Online Store to the new Square Online Store powered by Weebly. Please let me know if I've misunderstood what you're asking for/looking for. I'm here to help.

What I am trying to say, is there is nowhere on the Weebly website to add an additional cost for each order or each item and I need these options in order to ship outside the US. In the Square store, we could at least add a flat rate shipping cost, then an additional cost for each item, but Weebly doesn't offer anything like this.

I hope this helps you kinda understand what I was saying.

Thanks

Vicky

I thought the Square store was being discontinued. Your last reply had a link to the Square store, not Weebly. So which site should we be using?

Hi @pookievale I am stepping in for Isabelle_ to help out. You should be using the Weebly Online store, which is tied to us through the Square Dashboard under "Online Store." If you would like to have more customization over your shipping fees, you will need to upgrade your Weebly Online Store, however, even with upgrading your online store, the customized shipping is not done individually at the item level and instead will be based on the total weight or price of the items in the cart.

Hi. I understand about upgrading, but I don't need the real-time shipping option, I just need to be able to add an additional shipping option to a flat rate and a price for each additional item. I'm using dropshippers, so real-time shipping is not an option for me.

In the Square store, there is an option to add an additional cost per item in addition to adding a flat rate. This worked perfectly but Weebly doesn't provide that option so I'm having to go to another website provider that is set up to accommodate my shipping needs to run my business. The only downside to this other providers' website is limited design control without some CSS or HTML knowledge.

However, my choice would be Square if you all would just keep it up and not shut it down, but I'd work with Weebly if your developers would do something about accommodating shipping options for dropshippers.

Although the exact shipping feature you are looking for is not currently available, a lot changes are being quickly implemented within the Online Store at this time, @pookievale. We absolutely understand if you've found an eCommerce partner that makes more sense for your business that the Square Online Store currently does.

If any changes are made to the way shipping can be set up using the Square Online Store, we'll be sure to post an update here. I'd recommend staying subscribed to this thread to receive a notification when an update is posted.

Thanks for understanding. Hopefully, your technical team can make this particular feature a top priority and also add an import feature as well so I don't have to move all of my items from the other store individually.

I'll be watching for updates. Thanks again
