Using iPad as a printer

Is there a way to take an order on an iPad and cash it out there, but have a second iPad display the order? Basically I want an iPad as a kitchen printer. We sell ice cream at the county fair for a fund raiser. Sometimes it gets loud and can’t always here or have to repeatedly ask what the order was as you are scooping the ice cream. I would like to have an ipad set up as a display to show what was ordered. It would be awesome if it would update automatically so that no one would have to punch anything on the second pad.

Fresh KDS app works well & doesn't work well.  We've used Fresh KDS at one of our shops for about 2 years and love it, because it works.  At our new shop, we can't get Fresh KDS to work and the customer support is horrible.  I would try it because it pretty cheap to impliment and if it works you'll love it.  If it doesn't, maybe they will help, maybe they won't.  In that case you cancel the subscription and use the tablet for some other purpose.  We use inexpensive Samsung tablets, they interface fine with Square on iPad.

Commercially there is Fresh KDS ($20 per month) and another that I can't remember but that was $50 per month.  Too expensive for me.  So I adapted my own.  I found a project on Github (https://github.com/lb-/square-kds) that is four years old but I made a few customization and it works great for us.  Yeah I might have to reboot the server every few months, but that's worth it to save $20 per month.

I see someone else on Github has another Square KDS that runs on AWS serveless.  Looks interesting, I might check it out.

Unfortunately, it would take some IT skills to get either one of these to work (fortunately my day job is a software developer.)
