I'm thinking about signing up for Square, but I'm not sure if it can serve the purpose I am looking for. Here's my situation: I am a landlord (I own one house that is rented out) and I would like to provide the tenant the opportunity to pay me via credit card. I am 200 miles away, so physically being with her and scanning her card is not an option. Will Square work for my needs and can it be done without actually swiping her card? If so, what is the transaction fee associated with doing this? I am new to this, so any guidance would be appreciated.
yes, you can do this. you can either manually type it in in the Square POS app on your phone or tablet, or you can type it in on your computer ve "virtual terminal". both are 3.5% + 15¢ per transaction.
As a landlord can I accept rent payments through Square?
Yes, you can, @RaeAnthony. We have many customers who receive rent payments through Square.
Square Cash is well positioned for this, actually. Check out this article: https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/5187-if-you-re-new-to-square-cash
