SubWebsite

I have a website set up as an e-commerce shop. I would like to have another website set as a sub-website to this one for non-shop-related posts similar to a blog but without the header and footer of my e-commerce shop. Is there a way to make a sub-website within my main website? Or at least a way to have a page with a different header and footer?

Hi @MindyLevin Welcome to the Seller Community! 🎉

and hello @willowsky 😊 Thanks for being such an active member here!

Yes, you can create a subdomain, and direct it to a specific page on your website. You can do this by creating a Cname DNS record. More on managing your domain DNS here.

However, you would not be able to remove the navigation/footer from an individual page. Is there a specific reason why you would want to hide the navigation?

Another option would be to create a second website site, and linking the two sites together by adding a link in the navigation menus. You could also use buttons, images, or text to create the links as well. The only caveat with this option is that it would require a second paid hosting plan in order to connect to the custom subdomain.

Can either one of you provide more insight into why you would not want to have the same navigation and footer?

Hi. I have a retail shop but I also want a blog. However, the header and footer don't really pertain to my blog portion and I would want to make a separate header and footer for the blog. However, I bought my domain name and can't afford to buy another separate domain name. I don't want a square subdomain so that's why I don't want to create a separate website.

Thanks for clarifying, @MindyLevin 😊

The most important thing I can advise here is that you really want the content of your website to relate to the actual subject of your site/store. This is going to be helpful for SEO purposes.

What do you sell, and how would the header/footer not be relevant to the blog posts you create? Can you post a link to your site so we can get a better idea of what you are trying to do?

Thanks in advance!
