Steps for Employee to Enter time and only on Payroll system

Hello, I am] trying to find a step-by-step guide to show the employee how to clock in and out. I'm not sure if we need POS set-up, we strictly use the payroll processing. So, I will be meeting with them and need to confirm:
1. Could they simply download the app on an iPhone or an android, 
2. Sign-in
3. Next steps
