Square fees passed on to customer?

Hello,

I am very new to using Square.  I am the treasurer for our High School Band Booster club and we are trying to use both Square online and a square magstripe reader.

Online for folks to purchase tickets to a benefit dance prior to the dance or to just give a donation.

The magstripe reader for students selling tickets and concessions at the dance.

We polled our parents and all were willing to pay for the transaction % and the processing fees per transaction but I don't see how to set that up for either.

Is this possible?

Thanks so much ~

There's no direct way to charge the customer the fee.

The only way you can go about it is to charge more than the cost you're trying to charge so that fees are covered and you still collect the amount you need. In essence, you will end up collecting a little more than the intended amount.

For instance, if I wanted to charge $25 for a ticket, I would charge about $26 to cover the fees, which equal around $0.80, so I would end up with an extra $0.20. You can try to get it closer by charging $25.80, but since it's a percentage, you'll never get it exact since every time you change the amount, the fee goes up/down. I think most people would be happy to round up.

I wish square would implement a way to pass the fee along.

Check your state laws on passing the fees to customers. Some states this is still not legal to do.
