Special instructions unique to kitchen printer?

I am looking for a way to send more instructions to the kitchen printer than will appear on the customer's receipt. For example, for an order of Onion Rings which is available in an appetizer and side size, I would only want the customer to see "Onion Ring Appetizer" or "Onion Ring Side" but it would be handy for the kitchen printer to see "Onion Ring Appetizer (9 oz.)" or "Onion Ring Side (4 oz.)."

Obviously we can have an item to weights cross-reference for the cooks but it would be easier and one less step if it just showed up on the receipt. It would also keep the cooks from thinking they had the amounts memorized and therefore not reviewing the cross-reference and then get it wrong. An extra ounce here and there over the course of months and months can really add up!

There isn't a way to create special instruction for the kitchen printer. You could check on the manufacturer's end. There is one workaround that could accomplish what you're wanting. 

You could create modifiers for those items, so they have the side or appetizer options. Here are the steps on how to create those.
