Setting up my square register and it is not recognizing the cash drawer( purchased with register)

I am setting up my square register but it is not recognizing the cash drawer I purchased with it. it is a ethernet connection from the drawer to the square hub. What am I doing wrong

The cash drawers do not work on Ethernet to the hub, only on usb to the hub. If it looks like an Ethernet cable it’s probably a printer-driven cash drawer that plugs into your receipt printer, not the hub.

this is correct.  that is a special cable that connects the drawer to the ethernet printer.
