Setting up an account for school PTA tax-exempt organization

(1) I am on a school PTA board. Board members are constantly changing due to member's kids moving on to different schools, etc. A Square account requires a Social Security number. We can use the PTA tax exempt tax id and email address, but how do we handle the SSN? For ex, if I enter my name and SSN at account setup, when I leave the PTA board, can the name and SSN be changed to a current member of the PTA board? (2) Can the PTA organization get multiple card readers FREE or do we only get one free and pay for the others? It's not many. We are talking about 4-6 readers. We need one for concessions, ticket sales, etc. Thanks!!!

Re: Setting up an account for school PTA tax-exempt organization

Hello. Great question! 🙌🏻

To start, you're 100% correct, Square is required by bank regulations and federal law to ask for the Social Security Number, date of birth, and full name for each account holder. Having worked with other PTAs in the past, they normally ask a school administrator to set up the account since they're a pretty stable figure.

For you second question, we can definitely send you more readers. You'll just want to request those directly from our Support Team. Here's how you can get a hold of us:

Hope this helps!
