Setting up Inventory

I want to be able to put items in my inventory and them be allocated as need be by price and quantity.

Hypothetical situation: I sell pencils. I sell them in quantities of 25 for $60, 50 for $110, and 100 for $200. When my inventory comes of 300 pencils I want it to allocate between the three categories instead of updating inventory shuffle them around by variation. So if I sell 25 pencils it will reduce my inventory of 300 by 25 and so on. Any help on how to do this?

Thanks.

@KMiranda You can use Square's Inventory Management to track your inventory as you make sales. So you could create one item for each price point - 25 pencils for $60, 50 pencils for $100. You can then enter the stock for each item in 25s.

You can also apply discounts to a sale if you'd prefer to create items, and then apply a discounts to larger orders.

I hope this helps you get started. If you have any more questions about this please let me know!

Thank you for your response. How do I just enter the inventory for pencils without putting it in each price category?

All I can figure out is how to put inventory for each one.

25 pencils- 1

50 pencils-2

100 pencils-2

I want to enter the inventory and have it move to what sells. I am just not understanding how to do this. Thanks for your help. @Helen

@KMiranda You have a couple of options!

1) You can create one item, enter the inventory for the actual number of pencils you received (for the Item Details tap Receive Stock > then enter 300). That way, at checkout, when you select the item you can manually enter the amount you're selling: 25 or 50 or 100.

2) You can create one item called '25 pencils'. You enter the inventory for that item as 1 but when you're looking at your sales reports you'll need to remember that 1 = 25.

I think it would also be worth calling our CS team so we can get a better idea of your ideal set up and help you get there!

Hey @KMiranda  /cc @Helen

From what it sounds like, I believe you're looking to do bundling and kitting. Trunk just recently integrated with Square and has this functionality.

Within Trunk's centralized inventory, you would first create a pencil product. Then you can have your bundles of 25, 50, and 100 depend on this pencil product. These products can then sync with Square by SKU. Selling a 25 bundle will automatically adjust the 50, 100 and so on. You can also adjust inventory from within Trunk. For example, adjusting the single pencil product will automatically adjust and sync the 25, 50, and 100 bundles.

You can read more about this feature and see screenshots here (the first example goes over what I just went over!): https://help.trunkinventory.com/articles/2217275-creating-smart-bundles-and-kits

Hope I'm understanding correctly. If you're interested in this type of functionality, check out Trunk's website here: https://www.trunkinventory.com

I'm the founder and developer so please let me know if you have any concerns/questions!
