Setting Modifiers to increase by dollars or units?

Hi,

We sell custom items and for certain items we charge $X per letter on the item. We tried setting up letters as a modifier or add-on, but we can only set it to add "1" item. As a waork around we have created items for the different types of letters (blanket letters, towel letters, etc...) and set the price accordingly.

Can we create a modifier where we can increase the letters and it will add that many $'s to the price of the item?

Hello @Dimplesshop, I'm trying to work this out and I'm having a little trouble. Do you charge by the letter or font type? Are you trying to give the customer an exact price for the amount of text they're purchasing?

So I have a better understanding let's say I wanted to purchase a blanket from you and write on Chad on it. How would you like the custom text part of the sale to be categorized?

I'll keep an eye out for your reply! 👀

Most Items are a flat rate of $8 per name (on our prior website due to the difficulty of this, we set it to 12 cHaracters)

we do do have 2 other products which are $2 per letter which we couldn't figure out on our prior website so we charged $12...

Okay, so I don't think modifiers will be the best fit for you here. Mainly, because it sounds like the price of the name could vary depending on the name. Modifiers won't let you have variable price. Are you trying to add these items to your Square Online Store?

You could create variations of the item for example you have your main item Blankets, and then you could create a variation called Blankets/text. You could leave the variation price blank and this will make it variable. So at the time of the sale you would enter the amount for the item.
