Setting Custom Tip For Website Using Square

Posting here seems to be the best way to find out how to do something with Square/Weebly and I want to thank everyone who has responded to my questions, very promptly I must add.

My latest question should be a simple one to execute but I can't seem to figure out how to do it. Because of the current economic situation, I am wanting to allow my customers to "Pay What You Can" for my grocery delivery service, so they can remain safe at home while still getting the food they need. A lot of my customers are out of work and were already not economically wealthy to begin with so I am wanting to provide these options to them and their families.

I can easily change tips to a custom amount through the Square App but that does not translate to my website and I am not sure where to go through Weebly/Square to change all my tips to a customer entered custom amount. Any help would be appreciated.

A better alternative would be to allow customers to enter a custom amount for the price of the service through the Online Store. Is this possible because this would be 100% my preferred option but a custom tip honestly seems like the most realistic.

Thanks to everyone and stay safe out there!

Hey @david_c

That's such a great thing that you're doing to do Pay What You Can!

The tipping settings are suuuuper hidden on the online store, but they are there!

If you go into your Online Store Dashboard, then go to Settings, Pickup & Delivery, then Advanced Settings in the top Right Corner, a pop-up will appear, and the second section is Order Tipping.

If you toggle that On, then you'll get Pre-Set tip percentages, or the option "Do Not Add Default Tip"

Now, I don't have tipping active on my site, so I don't know what it looks like when you do that, but I'd guess that it might be what you're looking for.

Try it out, and let us know if that solved it!

Hope this helps,

Hey @pessosices !

Thank you for your reply. I went into those settings and changed them around but unfortunately all the percentage options for tips still show at checkout. There is a custom amount field (and always has been), but the percentages won't go away. Maybe I am doing something wrong or maybe there is another way to do this? Or maybe it's not an option at all? I know in the Square App it's a 30 second fix but for the website that seems to not be the case.

I'm pretty sure you can't remove the automatic percentages for tipping, just select a default tip amount or select to not have a default tip amount.
