Self-Published Cookbook nearly ready for sale!!!

Hello,

I'm Lucy from Albany, WA and I have self-published a cookbook based on my mum's Southern Italian recipes.  The books are being printed as we 'speak' and coming from China!!   I have a website called Angelina's Cucina Cookbook.  My hope is that people will be able to purchase my books via my website.  I am in the process of linking up my Square account to my website.  I will also take POS payments with the Square Reader at markets and events.

Have any of you guys had experience with Square & Squarespace?   It appears that the two don't integrate.  I have found a workaround via Ecwid and have been able to embed my Ecwid store on to my Squarespace website.  I'm of the understanding that I should? be able to use Square as my payment gateway doing it this way.

If anyone has any advice, comments, suggestions, recommendations I would be incredibly grateful.  I am a total novice when it comes to this kind of stuff.  I've done everything so far on my own by reading and doing.  But now I'm getting to the serious stuff, money, and I want to make sure all is 100% OK to go.

Thank you

Lucy

Hi @lucyturner,

I have to say that I don't have any personal experience with the Ecwid integration - though they do indeed accept Square as a payments integration

Square and Squarespace don't have any official integrations available - ultimately it'd be up to Squarespace to integrate Square payments within their platform. Is there any specific reason you need a Squarespace website? If you wanted to simplify things a little you may just want to go directly through ECWID as your web platform! Understand if there are some features of Shopify that you specifically need though!

Hi Seamus,

Thanks heaps for your reply.

I really should have done more research before jumping in with Squarespace.  Your advice about going directly with ECWID is noted and I should have done that from the start.  However, now I have a Squarespace website which I am slowly getting a handle on.  There are some features about it that I like, and I have paid for a 12-month subscription.

So, do you think using Square via ECWID on my Squarespace website is doable?

Cheers,

Lucy

Hi @lucyturner ,

Another Western Australian here, I've had a read over the ecwid stuff, and a couple of other pages related to integrating it), it looks like it is definitely doable.

If you are using a custom domain, or plan to do so with your squarespace page then it looks like you will also need to pay from the 'venture' subscription of ecwid so that's another subscription you'll need to factor in.

I have a software development/IT background so happy to help you take a quick look at it and see whether it cant all be plugged together (and whether its worth the bother).

Regards,

Bruce

Hi Bruce,

Thanks for your reply.

And thank you for your kind offer to help........appreciated!

I'm aware I will have to pay the Venture subscription with ECWID.....another cost which will chew into my ridiculously small budget.

Where do we go from here?

Cheers

Lucy
