On the sales dashboard on my phone it shows a graph comparing hour to hour sales from today and same day last week. The % that it shows you are up or down until a few months ago used to give you a direct comparison hour by hour. So if it is 11am right now, it would show me where we are at right now compared to where we were at sales wise at 11am last week. Now it shows where we are at right now at 11am this week compared to the sales for the whole day last week on the same day. This is a completely useless number. I have been using Square for about 7 years, and unless I am completely crazy (which could be) this number until an update a coulle of months ago used to compare differently and used to give you a useful number which was a direct comparison hour by hour.
Hey @The86Coffee,
Welcome to our Seller Community!
We are checking with our Appointments Team on this for you, they may have some insight into why this is happening.
We will be back with more details.
Thanks.
Did you ever find a solution to this? I'm having the same issue.
No. I have called square multiple times and no one seems to understand why I would want to compare my sales right now against sales for the same time period yesterday, last week, etc. They act like I am crazy and say there are no other complaints about this issue.
I've also noticed a similar change to how Yearly Gross Sales are presented. It now shows YTD Sales against Total Sales Last Year.
Unless I only look at it this data once a year, on Dec 30, and after COB, this is not showing a Sales "Trend". So confused by this change.
Right!?, its completely useless info because it doesnt compare the sales against the same time period. I cant seem to get anyone at Square to understand this.
Hello there @The86Coffe I recommend you submit a Feature Request here. When submitting it make sure to provide as much detail as possible. This will help our product team get visibility and track other Sellers with similar interest in your request.
This is not a feature request, it's a bug fix. It used to work properly. It no longer does. Where should we report bugs?
Thanks.
Exactly! The result of one of my Support calls was to be told I could submit a feature request. I said I just want the report to work the way it was originally designed to work and that I think they should thank me instead for alerting them that it is broken. Ugh ...
I literally just got an email from one of their people who saw this thread and asked me to submit a feature request. I was like this is not a new or added feature. This is fixing what you broke.
I have a separate thread started on this. As I stated in my thread, if I look at this in January with a comparison to all of the previous year, it's going to look like I'm in big trouble sales wise. I too have made no less than 3 calls to support with absolutely no response. For the first two calls, there was also zero understanding of what I was describing. They "broke" something in the report recently with some sort of update and don't seem to want to ensure that the report is working properly.
Yes. Exactly. They say they havent changed anything, but it definitely didnt used to show like this. It used to show the useable, correct info.
Well I'm glad I'm not crazy, because when I brought it up (about a year ago, when it first started happening for me) they told me that "it might be user error".
As far as I know, that conversation didn't end in the issue being presented to anyone who could do anything about it.
@Squareis there any interest in doing something about this? I'd love to know that we're not just speaking into a vacuum.
The issue was just fixed a few days ago. 😀
Is that supposed to be a joke? It hasnt changed.
Maybe reboot or something because it's fixed for me as well.
Sorry. I wasn't trying to be snarky. I was referring to the yearly comparison and it is now working for me.
Have logged out and logged back in. Its still comparing sales now compared to sales for the full day last week. Not curent hour vs same time last week.
Okay, I understand. I believe two threads were merged and, at least for my part, I was concerned that the yearly comparison was not working properly. As of now, the weekly and yearly comparisons are correct. I never did rely on a daily hour-to-hour, but I can see where it would be frustrating for a business for which that information was critical. I look at the graph lines as to how my day is starting out and where it could potentially go, and that information works for me. I would suggest a new thread with a title referring to the Daily Percent Sales Comparison and maybe that would be a similar and as quick a fix by the developers.
