Retainer for Services

My boss would like to start using a Retainer for billing customers where they'd pay a large fee up front and he'd bill against that as he does work for them (like lawyers do). Does Square have a way to send an invoice showing the fee was paid from the retainer and then show an ongoing balance of the Retainer?

Square doesn't offer what you are looking for. Invoice estimates would be the closest thing available. Square invoices can allow your customers to see a paid or pending amount on an invoice. Take a look at how it works here.
