Reader not working

I purchased an ipad mini2 to ise with my reader after looking on the square site for compatability. However, it is not working. It recognizes my reader but does not scan the card. It does work on my phone. I am running with ios 12.4. . I needed a device last minute and this was the only thing i could find for sale locally that is listed as compatable on the square site. I am trying very hard to get this to work for an event tomorrow so any help greatly appreciated.

Hey! I really hope you were able to get your system working, but in case you haven't, can you please tell me which reader you are trying to use?

 

Also, try restarting the iPad and connecting it to a different wifi network.

 

As a workaround you can always use your phone to make sales.

I am using the oldschool basic reader. It works fine in my phone. And the ipad jack works for headphone . The app works fine and says the device is plugged in. I bought thos ipad locally, used because at the last minute i realized i did not want people using a phone due to covid. I wanted a set up credit card station so i built a swivel stand. I hope i can solve tje problem quickly because ordering something will take a while.

It does. I just wanted to make sure the iPad was able to accept payments. Have you tried doing a hard reset on your iPad? Make sure to hold the power button and the home button down at the same time.
