We personally took the I phone that the jack is broken in to the Apple Store in the mall. The man there had purchased one of these and tried to remove it. It didn't work. So I'm back to one of my stands not having any business until I put out close to $300.00 to replace the phone! I'm furious with Square over this as they claim absolutely no responsibilty and told us "Better luck next time"! To date I have no resolution.
Your product does work for some, but for this one, it failed.
I'm sorry to hear about your Reader, @yummyroastednut.
Definitely a tough situation and difficult one for us to address as well. It some cases, it may void your device's warranty if you attempt to remove it or tamper with your device. For that reason, we're unable to assist in troubleshooting the removal of hardware that has broken off in a device’s headset jack.
I can only advise that you contact your device manufacturer to see if they have any recommendations for removing stems of audio equipment in jacks.
Thanks for your understanding.
