New Employee Passcode Question

 

 

I'm a bit confused about Employee Passcodes.

 

I just switch my Gift Shop to Square and created many new employees with passcodes.  Each employee received an email prompting them to create an account and order a free card reader (which we do not need).  The email did not include their passcode and they never saw it during account creation.

 

First, I don't really want them to have their own login for the register app, or access to any dashboard.  I simply want them to use thier own passcode.

 

Second, how am I supposed to distribute the passcodes?  I ended up composing an individual email to each employee, but this was very time-consuming.

 

Last, I simply want to be able to create a "register employee".  They would only get an email with their Passcode, and possibly links to some training videos on how to use the square register.  Is this possible?

Thanks for the post and I'm happy to help here. 

 

It sounds like you created your Employees with the "Access Mobile Register" option toggled on. If you toggle this option off, it will remove the ability to log in to the Square Register app with their own email address.

 

There isn't a way to distribute the Register Passcode all at once aside from providing it to your employees directly, however I can see how this would be helpful for Sellers with a large number of employees. I'll share this feedback with our Product Team. 

 

Toggling off the mobile register option and customizing the permissions that you want this role to have would accomplish the "Register Only" Employee that you're looking for.
