Hello! So my family and I own a Taco Truck where we do Pre-Orders online as well as walk up orders. I was wondering if there is a way to send a message to those who walk up (using iPad POS system) when their order is ready? As well as for the online orders (through our website). It gets pretty cold where we are located and we would like it if our customers could wait in their car and we can notify them through Text that their order is ready.

There isn't a way to notify customers when their order is ready for in-house orders. However, for online orders, customers can opt in to receive text notifications about their order status. When you mark an order as ready, a text message will be sent to the phone number they entered at checkout.
Enable text message notifications in your checkout settings.

In regards to text messaging these types of notification require authorization and consent every time we are sending messages so it is a little complicated on the Customers privacy end to roll out a feature like this one. However this doesn't mean that this could be developed in the future.

You already have text messaging for online orders so I'd assume it's the same consent process for in person orders no?
Not having text messaging for in person orders is very painful and is the main reason we're thinking to switch to Toast.

As a business that does custom jewelry in a walk up setting I would like this option also in the retail version. I don’t want my employees to use their personal phone to text customers that their items are ready.

What is the progress on this? We currently have to send a separate text by phone, which is one more step and another place for error (transposing numbers, fat fingers hitting the wrong thing, etc.) and we'd love to have this available for in-house orders on our food truck.
