Hi, I'm Nancy Shafee and have just been introduced by another Square user. I was given a log-in reference to get a concession for her as well as for myself as a joining member. Will she be notified directly?
Hi Nancy, thanks for your post and welcome to the Seller Community! 👋
If you have been referred to join Square from a friend, you’re eligible for reimbursements for card processing fees on sales up to £1,000 and so are they.
I just wanted to confirm this is the loyalty system you are referring to here? @Flights
Thank you - that is indeed what I meant. Just wasn't sure what they were called! Looking forward to finding Square is better than my current system!
Great, let us know if you need any help while getting set up! 🙂
Also, to answer your original question, yes. If you signed up via your friend's link, once you process your first payment on your Square account, £1000 free processing will be added to their account and they will receive an email notification. @Flights
Thank you - I put through a test £1 and got an email but today's overview shows a percentage was taken off. I'll see how I go over the weekend and get back to you if I have a problem! Always a bit of a learning curve with new technology!
Allied subject! I have just had notification from Square that 98p has been paid into my account. (I paid myself £1 to try out my reader). Is that likely to get refunded or should I contact them. And if so, is there a number I can call for this sort of query? Thanks
Hey @Flights! Just stepping in for Alegra here.
If you'd like to refund the transaction on your account, you can do so by following the steps below:
- Square will debit the refund amount from your Square balance, or if those funds are unavailable, the linked bank account will be debited.
- When issuing an itemized refund, the amount being refunded will reflect any applicable taxes (e.g. Sales Tax) and discounts for the selected item(s).
- For Custom Amount transactions, you’ll have the option to refund any amount up to the total amount of the sale.
- Team member commission (if applicable) earned from the original sale will not be changed.
- If you issued a partial refund, the remaining portion of the payment can be refunded at a later time.
- Partial refunds will not include tax and tip in reports.
- Since a tip is considered a line item, you can refund it individually. Issuing a refund for a tip will not allow you to adjust the amount since you are unable to issue a partial refund on an item. In order to receive a tip after it’s been refunded, you will need to reprocess your customer’s card.
Thank you to all who stepped in with information. Actually there was some confusion about loyalty points as I had been given a link by a friend for free transactions. But I think that may now have been sorted.
I used my cardreader for the first time yesterday and wonder why these show up on my phone but not my computer. I wonder if there is a linking step I have missed?
Sorry - so many questions but I am not tech-savvy so feeling my way!
Hi @Flights, thanks for your post. I read this thread and understand that you were referred by another Square seller and you were expecting to see that your first £1000 card transactions won't have any Square fee. When you tested out you see that a fee was applied.
The referral program actually reimburse Square fees when the balance is transferred to your bank account. This means you will see that Square fees have applied to a given transaction on the Transaction level, however, if you go to your Balance and check the Transfer details, you will see that the fees are reimbursed before we transfer these payments to your bank account. If you refund the transaction back to the card before we transfer to your bank account, then the free processing won't be used.
You can check your Referral Free processing balance from your Dashboard > Account & Settings > Fee processing or from Square App, go to More > Referrals.
I hope it helps. Please let me know if you have any further question.
