Loyalty Redemption Problems

I set up the loyalty program in Square back in April. My customers earn stars for every dollar they spend and then can redeem them for free drinks. The problem that's occurring, however, is that they can redeem the points for the free drink PLUS any and all extras they want in the drink. This was not the intent. The intent is to give them a free drink (max $6.50 value) but since they can add on any extras on the menu, they can quite literally create a $26 drink. How can I fix this?

PS - I reached out to my Square account manager (Jennifer) back in July and she never responded. This is getting expensive....

Hello @RisingSun207 and thanks for your question. One way to control the Loyalty redemption is to create separate drink items that do not allow for those extra add-ons. Then when you select what items are available for redemption, you can choose those "limited" items.

Another option would be to change the reward from "item" to a set dollar amount or percentage off as a reward. I know these are not ideal solutions as you've already created your menu items. Perhaps another seller who deals specifically with food items would be able to offer another alternative.

Thanks, Charlie.

For a menu as extensive as mine is, that would be a ton of work, unfortunately.

The good news is, I figured a workaround that will work for us, though. Instead of X number of points being redeemed for a specific item, I changed it to a specific amount.

Thanks for your help.
