LG G4 is compat w/Contls Chip Rdr, after purchase I learned w/at&t is not??

I did a lot of research for a few days before purchasing the Contactless & Chip Reader, dock & USB (?port). 

I have the LG G4 which was listed as a compatible device for the above.  My wireless service is AT & T. 

When going on another list of compatible devices, it lists LG G4 Verizon, LG G4 T-Mobile, LG G4 Sprint, but NOT AT & T.

Does this mean I will not be able to use my LG G4 phone w/the reader???

ALSO, If so, am considering an iPAD, but no clue which one to get. Can the ios be updated or am I stuck w/this newer, very expensive iPAD PRO 9.7 as is stated as being the only one that's compatible?

Thank you. I am a bit of a technologically challenged person and need any help I can get!

You can use an iPad mini, an iPad Air, an iPad Air 2, or an iPad pro 9.7" with the new square stand if you want to use the stand.  you can save by buying older ipads from refurbished sites like gazelle.com, many of ours are from there.  Apple is very good about keeping older hardware running current Operating systems unlike android.

We use 4 iPad Air running the most current operating system iOS 10 in a Square stand, plus a few iPad minis as portable cash registers, plus 5 iPhones also as portable registers.  

I can't help you with Android devices as I don't own any.
