Keeping a cash balance for customer

Is it possible to keep a cash balance on file for a customer? ex: customer gives me a $1000, i keep it on file to purchase or invoice them directly for services rendered

Unfortunately there's not a way to keep a cash balance on file. You'd want to do it pretty much in reverse of what you asked. You send the customer an invoice, then you can mark the invoice as "paid" with cash.
