Is there a way to set up the appointments tool to show all locations for the user to choose from?

Hi everyone! I am just trying to work out using the appointments tool and have a couple of questions.

  1. I teach classes at multiple locations that have different hours, but I can't seem to figure out how to set that up in the appointments tool in a way that makes sense. As an example, I am available in location "A" 3 days a week from 11 am to 6 pm and in location "B" one day a week from 9 am to 1 pm. It would make the most sense for me to have a single booking site where the client chooses their location first and then that shows them only the information for that location.  Am I missing a simple solution to this? Any ideas?

  2. What are the differences between the services that I enter in locations and items in the items list? I created services to use for my location, but they don't appear in my item list and I don't understand what it means when setting up a location and it asked about matching item library from another location. My location only has services set and no items. My store has items and no services. How do these all work together in the system? I don't want to accidentally overwrite anything I currently use!

Thanks for your help!

Hello and welcome to Square Appointments @Mahsati!

You can use Appointments in different locations and set your availability for each one. This product update post has steps and screenshots to set up multiple locations for Appointments. Because a service is assigned to a specific member of staff, you actually need to set the location for your staff (or for yourself) and not the service. Any services assigned to that staff member will then be available wherever the staff member is available.

There is an Appointments app but it's only available for iOS devices at this time. If you have an iPhone or iPad I recommend downloading it! If you are using the Appointments app you'll see both services and items in that app.

If you have an Android device and you're using the Point of Sale app you'll only see items in that app. You can create an item using the name of your service and that way it'll appear in the POS app. You can decide which location an item will appear in when you create it the Items tab of your online Dashboard!

I hope this helps. There's definitely a lot to wrap your head around so let me know if you have any more questions and I'll be happy to help.

Thanks for writing. Unforunately, those don't answer my questions, but I appreciate the response.

I'm really sorry to hear that! If there's anything specific that I can help clarify (question 1 or 2 or both) definitely let me know. Also keep in mind we have a team of Appointments specialists available by phone. Sometimes it's easier to talk!
