Is there a way to access iOS on the POS iPad?

Does POS lock out all other iPad functions or is there a way for me to keep the POS app running while ducking out to the iPad desktop for a minute and coming back?

Square POS app is just like any other app on the iPad and you can go between apps and uses safari or whatever you want.

How do I get out of the POS app and leave it in the background? Does the home button work?  (Note: I do not have it yet, just planning.)

Yes, just like any app you hit the home button to get back to the main operating system.
