Is it possible to be logged in with the same account on 6 devices?

Hi, We are having a charity event and volunteers will be taking donations with their phones during the event. I wanted to find out if it is possible to be logged in with the same Square (tap to pay) account on all the devices?

Thank you!

@Free4a11 Yes, you can in fact log into multiple devices with one account.  I would recommend setting up device codes and a team passcode so you don't have to give out log in credentials for everyone unless you truly trust those people.  Both will accomplish the same thing.  You will go to your account dashboard and set up devices and log into each device with the device code and work that way also.

Yep, I have over 10 devices all logged into our account and it works great.  Love the days when you see 6+ transactions in a minute as they are all working away on each device.

Can you accomplish this without device codes?

 - I have a brick mortar store with iPad running Square Retail Plus but I also go outside the store and process sales mobile.  As I understand, device codes expire after 48hr of no use - I want to use my phone to process sales for my store anytime/anywhere without fear of expired device code or having to reset device code. What’s the work around for a permanent 2nd device linked to same location as the brick mortar device?

thanks.

Hey there, @gotrisports

If you don't want to use the device codes, you don't have to. Just keep that in mind when it comes to reporting. Without adding those codes, it would be difficult to tell which payment came from which device.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks Kassi - I am okay with not knowing which payment came from which device. My concern was when my store was running Retail Plus - then I tried to log into Retail Plus from my phone while in the field doing business - I would get an warning message telling me that "the device profile is paired with a location. Reassigning it will unpair it." - which I read to mean that the Store location would be signed out and not be able to operate. Is this accurate? Or, will it just allow two devices to be signed in at the same time (just not distinguishing which payment came from which device - as you have stated?). Thanks. Alfred

Thank you, @gotrisports. I was able to speak with one of our Retail Plus experts to get some more insight on the error message you're seeing when trying log into the device.

It looks like whenever you're using Retail Plus, each physical device will need to be set up with a specific device code. You'll be able to sign in with the same information, but it will ask for the device code profile associated with the device you're signing into. All of the device codes can be seen through your Square Dashboard too.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.
