I live in the US- can I use Square to process a payment from the UK?
You can only accept cards in your own country. Square isn't currently available in the UK either. https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/4956-international-availability
Hold on. Now I'm confused. In another spot (https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/5085), I found this. It says Square can process most internationally-issued cards bearing Visa/MC/Discover/AmEx/etc. logos via manual entry. You just have to be in the country where you opened your Square account. I don't know the right answer now.
Hi there @Stoneobsessions, great question.
The information on this page is correct - you should be able to accept a UK card in the US as long as you created your Square account in the US.
Thanks for chiming in @VanKalkerFarms, you were right with your second response here! 🙂
Hi,
My account is in USD, I will be in Mexico next month giving a conference. Can I use the app to charge people in Mexican pesos? or do I need to charge in dollars?
How does the system make the currency conversion?
Thanks
Alexcr
Hi @alexcr!
I moved your post to a relevant thread in the Community on international use.
Unfortunately you're only able to process payments in the country you're from so you won't be able to process with us while you're in Mexico.
Thanks, can I then charge people in USD to their credit cards using the square app during the conference in Mexico?
You will not be able to use the Square app while in Mexico as Square does not have a Credit Card processing deal in place to work in Mexico. Once you leave the United States Square will no longer work as it uses GPS to determine the location the transaction is taking place.
