Every time I go overseas, actually whenever I step out of my timezone, and I try to book clients using the app, there's always an issue. I'm not sure if it's something I haven't set up in my settings, or if it's an area of Square that could use improvement.
My salon is in Houston, TX (Central Time), but let's say I'm on vacation in Malaysia (+14hrs). A client is trying to book a 2pm Monday slot when I return. I'll open the app, book their appointment for 2pm on Monday, but then I get a text from the client saying that I've booked their spot for 4am Tues. On my app calendar, it's coming up as 2pm Monday, but I sync the app to my Google calendar (I'm an android user), and in my Google calendar, it comes up with the same time that the client sees.
Now whenever I go overseas, I direct my clients to my Google business page to make their booking themselves, but I'm wondering if there's something that can be done on my end. Thanks!
Hey! Thanks for posting... and Malaysia sounds so cool. I am personally hoping to travel there this year myself!
Also, in reference to your question, the calendar is going to reflect the time zone that the seller's device is set to (in this case, GMT time zone and not CDT). If the seller travels to a timezone other than their business' time zone, events on the calendar will be shifted accordingly and they will see a message that says "Calendar Time Zone differs from Business Time Zone"
If you want to avoid any confusion, you can go into your device's date and time settings and set the device to your business time zone when editing appointments.
Let me know if you have any other questions. 🙂
