How to switch my tax jurisdiction

Hello all,

I use Square only for payroll, and have moved my business from CA to Wyoming.  I am my only employee and need to switch it over so that my tax jurisdiction is Wyoming, but it seems to be impossible to change the tax jurisdiction of my business in Square.  It allows me to change my location and the address of my employee (me), but won't allow me to run payroll because "this employee lives in a different state than your tax jurisdiction".  OK well then how the heck do I change my tax jurisdiction????  I have clicked every link and can't find how to do this.

Driving me nuts.  Any help would be great.

Hi @Bainter1212! I wasn't quite sure on this, so I checked in with one of our Payroll Specialists.

Sadly, we can't support a business that moves to a different state mid year because at the end of year we would need to file W-2s for the employee (in this case, just you) that worked in State #1 showing income tax for that state. Then we'd also need to file W-2s for the employee that worked in State #2 showing income tax for State #2. With the way Square Payroll files W-2s, our W-2 filings can only show state income tax for one state.

I asked if there was any kind of work around for your situation, but unfortunately there isn't at this time. You'd need to close your Square Payroll account and look into a different Payroll provider that can support this kind of move.

Let me know if you have any questions on this information.
