3. Tap the blue *Charge* button.
4. Swipe the payment card with the magnetic stripe facing the back of the reader.
5. Let the customer sign for the transaction.
6. Let the customer select if they would like their receipt via email or text message.

I just plugged in a brand-new square and I'm trying to swipe my card and it's not picking up. Why?

Hi @Ocoilgirl, are you using the included headphone jack adapter that can with your iPhone? You should be able to plug the reader into that, and while holding it steady, swipe a card. Let me know if you're still having trouble!

Did anyone ever solve this? I can charge a card by manually entering the numbers but the mag swipe reader does not work on my iPad Air nor on my iPhone 7+ (with dongle adapter). I read the troubleshooting and nothing helped. I do have an old mag swipe reader that I got many years ago but never used, did the designs change? I have new one on order along with the chip reader. Thanks,
Art

UPDATE: I had an old model of the credit card swipe (mag swipe?). This evening I purchased a new one at Best Buy and it works fine. I even got the wireless chip reader to work. Thanks to those of you that sent me helpful messages, this is a great community!
