How to get and retain customers

Hey everyone! I am struggling to get sales and when I do, I don't see any repeat business, but I have good reviews. I advertise on facebook( and post to facebook at least once a day) and google. I get about 21 visits to my website a day. I run sales occasionally but I haven't received an order in over a month. I make and sell handcrafted soaps and candles. Any idea on what I am doing wrong, could my website be off putting?

Do you have your customers email addresses? Create a drip sequence about your business!

Send them an email every week or every other week.

- Include a photo of them in use

- how do you create them ( would be so interesting to see the process since they are handmade )

- what made you want to start this business

- where are they made

- request referrals or create a points program

You mentioned that you sold soaps and candles, which is not something that people go through too often if they buy enough. I operate a farmers market, and I know that many of the soap/candle vendors have recurring customers, however, these recurring customers purchase from them about every 2-3 months. Something that you could consider doing (if you don't already do it), is offering a referral deal. Example: tell a friend and you both get $5 off your next purchase.

Another way to encourage customers to return is by offering a return discount or a loyalty program. A wonderful example would be from one of my vendors, Coco & Soy Candle Co. (https://cocoandsoy.com/

In terms of advertisement, consider advertising more to Instagram and Google instead of Facebook. Personally, I have found that Instagram and Google ads work wonders.

You could also consider selling at pop-up markets or local farmers/flea markets in your area if available. They are a great way to attract new customers and new connections!

I hope this helps!
