I had a customer message me through square about wanting to place a special order. He included his credit card number in the message. The message was then forwarded to my third party work email address. None of this seems secure and he should have never done this. I immediately deleted the emails on my email end but cannot delete the original message that is setting in Square under his customer profile. How do I do that??
Thanks
Shari
Hi Shari!
I just looked and I do not see a way to delete a message from a customer at this time. It does make sense that we would need to delete messages especially ones with confidential information like this! Hopefully this feature is added soon!
I do not believe there is a way to delete a message sent to you thru Square messaging. while yes, the customer should not send CC that way, it is not something that is accessible outside of you being logged into your account. Now as you said the email is more complicated as that is unencrypted and is good to remove from your email clients and server as a precaution.
@safsac That is an interesting question. Ok, The good news, the customer messages are hidden behind your square login and are secure. The forwarded e-mail of course was encrypted, but obviously not as secure. No one can access those messages without permission from you (if you have team permissions set up) and ability to manage the customer directory.
But, I do not see a way to delete those messages at this time. I am not sure if you deleted the profile and made a new one if that would do it.
