How do different types of groups get created, i.e. Reachable v Instant Profile?

I took a few cards while out at a vendor event and the customers information comes up as Instant Profile.  The only time customer information shows up after a sale is if I entered an invoice in.  How can I make it so I can follow up with my customers without having to create an invoice?

Hello @allisongregg!

 

Instant Profiles are created when you take a card payment with Square using the reader. The customer's name is read from their card in order to create the Instant Profile.

 

When you send a customer an Invoice you're creating a Profile. Profiles are different because you're entering the information about the customer, Square isn't reading the information from their card.
