How do I sell egift cards at shop?

I am trying to send an eGift Card to a customer (he won an in-store contest and gets a $50 eGift Card). How do I do this? I have him as a listed customer but I see nowhere to add it to his account.

I followed the set up steps, but when I attempt to sell e gift card, I get the message "to order gift cards visit the dashboard on web."

How to Sell your eGift Cards to your customers from your Square App:

To sell an eGift Card:

1. From your item library, tap Gift Cards > select eGift Card.

I want to reward a customer for winning a contest in my pub, but didnt have physical Gift Cards when she was in. Is there a way for me to send an email with either a coupon or an E-gift card that will go just to her or flag her account with the amount for the next time she comes in?

Welcome to the Community. We're happy to have you here, and happy to get this answered for you.

You can send that Customer a e-gift card from the POS itself. To do so, you'll you'll want to make sure you have gift cards enabled to sell in Shop. 

I've moved your post to this thread where they discuss how to sell a eGiftcard in your shop.  And you'll just want to mark it paid when you check it out, so that you know you are crediting it, not receiving funds for it.

I want to do the same thing.  Send an egift card to a customer as a reward.  If there is an answer here, I don't see it.  Maybe this isn't possible?

@To send a customer a gift card for free, you can set up a 100% discount, on your pos or in the E-gift card settings page on your web dashboard, depending on how you’re planning on sending it to them. Then load up the gift card, apply the discount, and you’re good to go to send it to them.

Very much appreciate your reply.  Setting up the discount was key, but also it seems the transaction can only be done in the POS app.  I think this is the main point of confusion, as I was trying to do this in the web portal.  I bet some others were in a similar situation.

You could totally use the eGift Card web portal! 

Just set up the discount code in the eGift Card settings menu from the web dashboard - just click gift cards on the side menu, and follow the prompts. 

Then use your e-gift cards web portal and use the discount code you just set up.

Can i sell eGift cards in person with the Square for Retail Free plan, or only the plus? I am struggling to find how to sell an eGift card to a customer , when they want to do it all in person at the register (with my virtual terminal). Please help !
