Hey @kabebe2007-

Thanks for posting in the Seller Community!

There are a few steps to complete in order to receive a corrected 1099k from Square:

1. Update your business taxpayer information from your Square Dashboard. You'll need to ensure that the system accepts the tax identification number and name combination.

2. After editing your information and clicking Save, the 1099-K form for the current tax year will automatically update. You can confirm this by downloading the form available on that page. If you're getting an error message, please double check with your EIN assignment letter if you're not using your name and SSN.

3. If you still need to correct a form from 2015 or earlier, you'll also need to provide us with a copy of a bank statement which shows deposits from Square to your business during the year(s) that you need corrected (IRS requirement).

You'll want to make sure that your bank statement clearly shows these things:

1. Official bank letterhead with your bank's logo
2. The bank holder's name and address (which needs to match the name on the updated Form 1099-K)
3. The bank account number or the last 3 digits of the account if you're using a credit union
4. Deposits from Square in the same year as your requested 1099-K correction

Once you've located and gotten a digital copy of this statement, just reach out directly so we can get this process started with our Tax Team.

Thanks again!

But it’s very likely that they won’t be able to help.

You really can't, it's very difficult.

I am in serious tax trouble because square would not correct my 1099k.

It was issued under my social instead of the business ID.

I spent 4 months going back and forth with agents and my issue was not resolved.

They don't care at all.

I had $3,349.00 withheld in 2020 for federal taxes. When printing my 1099k that box is empty.

Why?

How does this impact my preparation for filing? Will my accountant be able to see this prepayment?

On my 1099 box 1a is the amount of $63,298.26, however is box 1b the amount is $42,949.50.  What is the descrepancy?  I have a square loan, but the payments don't add up?

I’m sure it’s a clerical error that they will not be able to fix.  Get ready for the ride.  I owe the IRS 16,000 because they would not change my social to the business id on my 1099k

I tried to message you.  We need to band together.  They refuse to help and push us off to someone that cannot change their 1099.  Only they can do it.

My 2019 1099 was issued under my name, not my business.  I've been trying for months to get it corrected and I keep getting the runaround.  I've been through 3 customer service reps and they all end up just dropping off and i have to start over.  Here I am again. starting over.  I have all the proper documentation and they keep giving me the runaround.

Six different customer service reps, one manager.  No one will help me.  They all say to contact a tax specialist, which I did, multiple times.  They all told me the only one that can correct a 1099 is the issuer.  Square refuses to help me and now they are deleting other peoples messages on here with the same problem so we can't band together.  Square had no problems issuing me a 2020 1099 with the information they have on file, but refuse to take off my SSN from my 2019 1099.  It was their mistake, they asked for my SSN and EIN and then put my SSN on the 1099.  Someone needs to help.  We are paying customers and we are being pushed aside without a care.

Thank you. I’ve been calling every day, sometimes multiple times and I feel like I am going crazy. They keep saying “the updated it on their end and I will get the corrected form soon”. But I never do. I’ll keep going. Thank you for responding.
