I've created a coupon code in our website (which is separate from square, which is used as our register system). I would like to send out a marketing campaign email with that code, but the template does not allow me to edit the code (it just reads "123 456"). Curious how to edit that to reflect the code I have created. Any advice?? Thanks!!

Hey @HouseOfStemms, welcome to the Seller Community! This is a great question.
So the "123 456" code you see, is just an example on the template. When you send the coupon every customer will receive a unique six digit code. The code is randomly generated so you won't have to create your own. You can edit the details of the coupon as well. It will let you edit:
Please let me know if you have any other questions regarding coupons or Square Marketing. 😀

Hi Chad,
Thanks for the reply! I also got an email reply from Andrew, and I'd like to thank your support team for getting back to me on all fronts so quickly 🙂
Unfortunately, it seems that I will have to use another template to send out the discount as the Square system of generating coupon codes does not work with our web back-end which requires one code (ie. SPECIALSAVINGS) to be able to apply it on our site, not a unique code for each customer. Would be great if this feature could be updated in Square as we love the look of the template, and can't imagine we are the only business facing this issue!!
thanks again and have a great day 🙂
@HouseOfStemms, I will make sure to pass this feedback along to our product team! I see how the custom codes could be used for web promos.
As of right now, the coupons are really geared towards in person purchases. Never the less, if you have any other questions please let me know. 😀
I had same question about coupon code (being 123 456). Thanks for answering it. however, I have additional questions on same topic as follow. I do not have square POS fyi.
1) How are we able to keep track of customer who redeemed coupon vs who haven't?
2) How to prevent customers from using same coupon multiple times?
3) Is there a redeem bottom that retailer can press on their customer's phone (like groupon has)?
4) Is coupon going to be linked to customer's credit/debit card that is with square?
Thanks in advance.
Hello @srisri143 and thanks for your interest in Square! I've answered each of your questions below:
1) How are we able to keep track of customer who redeemed coupon vs who haven't?
After you send a marketing campaign you’ll be able to view a Campaign Report from your Online Dashboard. This report will include information about how many customers redeemed a coupon versus how many did not.
2) How to prevent customers from using same coupon multiple times?
Each reward codes is unique and can only be redeemed once.
3) Is there a redeem bottom that retailer can press on their customer's phone (like groupon has)?
Yes! The seller/retailer will see the option to Redeem Rewards from the Point of Sale app. Check out this Support Center article for the steps to Apply Rewards to Purchases.
4) Is coupon going to be linked to customer's credit/debit card that is with square?
The coupon will be associated with your customer’s profile, not their debit/credit card specifically.
That would definitely be helpful, I am running into the same issue rn.
Hi Chad- can you outline how to edit the coupon? I have a birthday coupon that i'd like to edit from a $ to a %. Thanks!
I would like to create my own email marketing code. i am wanting to know how I do that. thanks!
Hey @mandym - currently this is a limitation but we're continuously making improvements to make email campaigns more customizable.
This thread is where we're tracking this feature request and we'll be sure to loop back here if there are any updates.
