Example: The store receives boxes of 10 widgets per box. My store sells the widgets individually for $6 widget or you can buy a box of 10 for $40 per box. As long as I have more than 10 widgets in the shop, I can sell a box as a bulk order, but if I only have 3 widgets left, well then obviously I can't sell a bulk order and need to restrict the customer to only single-price widgets, informing them that we are out of boxes. I understand how to make this work in-store at the POS, but what is the easiest way to do this for online customers? I need to be able to track the inventory of all the widgets individually while still allowing customers to buy a box (10 widgets or multiples of 10) at a time if I have enough in stock.
I'm hoping one of our Sellers can chime in here if they have a more suitable idea, but it would seem the only real way to do would be to set up a bulk item vs a single item. The inventory would track different sets though, and at this time that would be the only work around I see, as this would be a Feature Request.
If you do try this route, you'd need to have a few designated sets that you intend on selling bulk and adjust your single inventory if more than the bulk are sold. This also would not solve for bulk + single orders, so it's not a perfect solution.
I'll be sure to surface with the team so we can get some eyes on this.
