How do I add a tip to a cash sale

The answer is not great, I don't know how this isn't a feature from day one and still isn't to now.

some people use an item called tips with no tax and ring it up after the original transaction.  others use the paid in/out feature of cash management.

3 years and a critical feature for tax reporting and accurate receipts is still not functioning? Adding it as an item even without sales tax on it is not an accurate way to record tips for tax purposes.
