How can you verify a credit card number with Apple Pay to issue a refund? Apple will not show you the last 4 digits of the card number to search by card number. Apple will not tell you the customer name to search by name. I have a dollar amount that is correct but cannot verify this is the customer. Square customer service cannot verify the transaction. Apple cannot verify the transaction. Apple called the bank who will not talk to a third party. All I want to do is verify the customer to refund them. Bad business practice to accept Apple Pay.
@Jsmith ;
If the amount was processed through Square, and the person is there they should have a receipt for in store purchase which you can scan to pull up their transaction to issue a refund. If an online order their should be an online order code reference number etc. that goes along with the transaction and then you can do the refund that way.
They did not want a receipt so they do not have one. They do have their bank account showing the withdrawal/charge from my business but it does not have anything to scan on it. I cannot confirm which transaction belongs to this person. Unknown name. Apple encrypted visa number (not their number), no receipt. I want to give them this refund. I cannot refund everyone with the same dollar amount.
I disabled Apple Pay and will no longer take Apply Pay Payments. I feel stuck unable to refund my customer. How can Square have no way to verify the credit card they used? My transaction number is useless as well. It ties to nothing. I am very disappointed that I am unable to issue a basic business practice of issuing a refund because of Apple Pay.
Thanks for the suggestion but it doesn't work in this case.
