How can I identify and delete sold items OTHER THAN by the stock quantity?

I've asked this before and still haven't found an answer.

Everything in my inventory is one of a kind. Each item will never be restocked. When we first started creating items, we assumed the inventory count would show at least go up to "1" for each new item. But it doesn't. You have to manually change the stock quantity from NONE to 1.

So now I have tens of thousands of items in my inventory which show NONE as the quantity. Many of those have been sold, but I have no way to identify which ones.

If I export the ITEM SALES report, I can see a transaction ID and a payment ID, which I assume only appears on items that have been sold.

Is there any way to identify the sold items from the exported inventory list, so that I can delete them?

I ask this because I've just created my online store, and every item in my inventory is appearing, even though many don't exist any more.

Please help.

But if I export my whole inventory, there is no such reference.

Yes you're right - items that are exported in the Item Sales report suggest they've been sold. From your Online Store Dashboard, you can hide the items that appear on your report so they're no longer visible on your site.

I hope this helps!

I appreciate your reply, but you missed the point of my question.

I have tens of thousands of items. Hiding them in the online store would take weeks.

I want to delete the sold items from my Square inventory altogether.

Is there any way to merge the exported sales report with the exported inventory report, identify and delete all sold items, then re-upload the resulting spreadsheet to replace the inventory in Square?

You cannot merge those two reports, you'll need to cross reference them. On the Item Library export file, simply delete the item rows that appear in the Item Sales report. Then import the file using the Replace Item Library option.

Since your item catalog automatically syncs with the Online Store in the background, your will reflect the changes you've made in your Online Store Dashboard under Items.
