How can I accept donations from the UK?

We are doing a fundraiser for Hurricane Harvey. I have some employees in London who want to donate but can't with our current Square account. Is there a way for me to take donations from them using Square?

Thanks for your post @hayboo, we’re delighted to hear about your fundraiser!

If you’re using the Online Store your UK employees won’t be able to donate that way, unfortunately. To make a donation via your Online Store the cardholder must be located in the US. 

However, you could accept donations from these employees using the Point of Sale app instead! With the app you can manually key in the card information over the phone, and you can accept international debit or credit cards too. Keep in mind that the fee for manually entering a transaction is 3.5% + 15¢ per transaction.

Also, for anyone else reading this and accepting donations, be sure to check with your attorney as there may be guidelines for accepting donations in your jurisdiction.

Your employees could also consider donating to a local or national charity. NPR and The New York Times have put together lists of various charities working to help people affected by the hurricane.
