Sorry to hear about the trouble! To get started, if you purchase the Dock for Square Reader, you can plug it directly into the USB hub of the Square Stand. Here's a picture:
If you didn't pick up the dock, you can pair the contactless reader wirelessly.

Just to clarify as well, you have to have the Contactless + Chip Reader, not the Chip Card Reader that plugs into the headphone jack.
