Google Verification code is showing up on published site

I tried adding the open and close symbols and it did not work.

HI, you can review your settings on your Online Dashboard.

 

Online Dashboard, Settings, Tracking Tools

 

example:  insert your code within "as shown below"

I looked and that is not addressing the issue. I pasted my Google verification snippet into the footer and was confirmed by Google that the site is now verified and waiting indexing. The problem I'm having is if you look at my site live via my Facebook or Instagram link you can see that the Verification snippet is showing to the public view in the upper left hand corner of every page.
