Square is lagging in the payroll services marketplace with respect to independent contractor payment. I need to be able to pay a contractor with an EIN, and I need to be able to pay a foreign contractor (this only requires one initial form, no withholding, and no ongoing reporting). Gusto supports both. I'd rather not change services because I've been a Square customer for a long time, but the choice to stay with Square is starting to cost me time and manual effort to file and report these payments. I'd use both Square and Gusto if I could, but companies can only have one Form 8655 active, authorizing a payroll service to report on their behalf.
