Export reports for customer addresses for 2016 sales

I want to pull out just those customer addresses that purchased this year so I can mail them thank you and holiday cards.

There is a way to pull out sales for the year obviously, but only their name is listed in a column. Nothing to link up the address.

Is there an easy way to do this?

I know I can go to the customer listed I created and pull out all customers, but I have no easy way of knowing who are 2016 customers without looking through the whole list manually.

Thanks for any tips you may have.

I think I found my own answer 😄   a little bit of extra work, but once exported, there is a column of first date of sale and last date.

So anything in 2016 is what I can use.

I also go back previous years to send to customers that spent $100 or more.

Glad you were able to track down a method for this, @RCT, and thanks for sharing it here! I love the idea of sending a holiday card to your customers, and looking at big spenders from previous years. 😀

since this is only my 2nd year with Square, I only have easier access to sales without doing extra work, besides those that purchased on my website.

Will be interesting to see sales across years now that I have an easier report system within Square 🙂

So how did you do it? I tried to export customers but only got the column headers in the csv file

One thing I'll add @jd5321, is that the exported spreadsheet will only include profiles that you've added in the app or Dashboard. Profiles created by Square are not included, so that may be why your sheet is blank. Hope that helps clarify.

Thanks Spenser.  Am I to believe then that Square considers my customer as "their" customer?

The only way Square would be able to add a profile is if that person were making a purchase from me.

Square

We automatically create basic profiles for customers who make a credit or debit card purchase with you and enter their contact information for receipt delivery. You're able to see the transaction history and use Square Marketing features with these profiles, however, you won’t be able to export customers’ information that was collected by us.

Information that you add to these profiles, or profiles you create in the app or online, will be exportable to you. Check out this article about managing your customer directory, and refer to the chart under "Sort Your Customer Directory" for more info on the profile types. Hope that helps clarify.

I need some clarity:

Even though my dashboard says 134 customers, I can only export the 3 that were "Added By You" ?

What happens to the information I create at the point of sale? I can see it on the transaction, but have no way to 'link' them together?  I am fairly advanced database user, but I could use some help finding a common field in all of the exports that I might can manipulate on my own to get this seemingly simple report.

Please advise

Hi @macrts. I'm happy to try and help out with this. Having said that, you might need to reach out directly so we can talk to the specifics of your account. Since this is a public forum, we can't get into account details. In general, the export feature is for customers that you have added manually using the Customer Directory (though the app or from the dashboard). The other customers represent folks that were added automatically just by supplying their email address for a receipt. We don't disclose full details for these customers since they didn't specifically disclose this information to you with the purpose of you having permanent access to it. Hope this helps!
