Mid-morning, Square stopped offering customers the option to tip. I went into settings and turning tipping back on (I had not turned it off). A few minutes later, the option automatically turns off again. Can someone tell me how to fix this problem? It's exhausting.
My terminal keeps “resetting” itself as well. Keeps requiring log-in (which I have disabled) and is also requiring a signature (which we have turned off also). This keeps happening no matter how many times I reset my settings. I think the download this morning had a bug
This is happening to me also! We keep going in and turning tipping back on and then it turns off again
SAME HERE my God Square you just crippled our volume today and have slowed us down big time. There is a bug in the latest update and this needs fixed ASAP.

How do you manage to cost all of us so much business on a Saturday???? Who is going to make up all the tips our staff did not get today because your lousy software changed all of our settings???? This is just totally inexcusable.
Having the same issue here. Not the only technical issue we've had with Square in the last month. Time for Clover, I guess
Every POS system has systemwide issues. Looking to support with the answers. Tips, Signatures, Payment types... many settings were changed but are also not sticking and causing some instability ie. resetting. Hope engineering fixes soon.
Is anyone having issues with the Square Terminal turning the Tipping Option off on it's own? Just started this morning at all 5 of my stores. This has never happened before and it started around 11:00 am Mountain Time.
We had the same issue with the Square register. The tip option was turned off automatically and other potions were turned on, etc. Just found there were some service issues.
Yes, this has happened twice today at our cafe (Sat, 9/18). Each time it started working again on its own.
*We are also experiencing ongoing issues with our Square point-of-sale, in general.

Are you able to confirm the current version of the app you're using? And are you accepting custom tips or smart tips, as this will change your tipping behaviour in the app?
@LovelyEats, are you experiencing this issue on the Square Point of Sale app on your Square Terminal, or are you using Square for Restaurants?
In terms of troubleshooting, on your iPad @ShaunaD, I know you reset your device but are you also able to check whether there are any pending iOS updates on your iPad?

We aren't receiving any similar reports following our service disruption at this time, so it might be worthwhile raising this with our team so they can attempt to replicate the behaviour on their end.

Anyone experiencing the automatic Tipping Box on the receipts are not functioning anymore?
Yes! My receipt setting changed every 5 minutes today even after I reset them. First no paper receipt. Then no tips on receipts. And then pass codes disappeared for the areas I have blocked off. No idea why.
