Does the Square Online Store come with an SSL?

The title of this thread has been edited from the original: Secure link to Weebly site

I have a few customers whose browser settings will not connect to my Weebly site because it is not a secure link. Is an upgrade necessary or is there some way to secure transctions such that these browsers can connect?

Hey @AirPlay-

Thanks for posting in the Seller Community.

The SSL for our newly launched Square Online Store (powered by Weebly) should be automatically enabled when the site is published, meaning it should be a secure link.

What browser are they using? Let me know!

I will check with them again. I have not had this issue personally, nor have I heard it from others. Thank you!

@isabelle this morning, on my phone and mini iPad the padlock appeared, but on desktop and MacBook, it still says "not secure." Not sure if that information helps!

@samanthor Can you please try going to Website > General Settings and un-publish, then open the website in the editor and publish again? This should generate a new SSL certificate request and help fix the issue. Thank you!

Hi @AshleyK, I just did that. I can now get on the website but it says that I am not set up to accept payments:

This store is not yet accepting payments.

It also still says not secure at the top. On my phone the padlock appears and I do not get the not accepting payments error.

I finally found email for Weekly support, and this was their response:

"It looks like this is the result of a bug that is preventing the DNS settings for the domain from propagating correctly. The issue is apparently caused by the nameservers that we use for domains that people register through us.

I don't have an ETA on when it will be done, but we're working on fixing this and we'll let you know when we have."

This is completely unacceptable! I emailed back to clarify the timeline, in terms of hours, days or weeks. My website is essential disabled and I cannot take orders. This is not the service I expect from Square. (Sorry, venting, but this is so frustrating)!

@samanthor I understand needing to vent. I would be frustrated too. Please know that engineering does take issues like this seriously and will work as hard as they can to get you and other sellers up and running.

Please let me know if they give any updates on this!

Is there any update on an ETA for delivery of the fix on this bug?  I switch my website to the domain that I own and called customer support to get the DNS and all the other backend set up correct and my site is still showing not secure.  This is really hurting sales as people are wanting to order online but are concerned with using a unsecure site.

Any updates are appreciated.

I just connected my site to a domain I already own and it looks like my SSL is not connected. Should I be waiting for my SSL thought you on weebly/square or should I be buying a new plan from my domain provider?

Hi there, @Jenflowers9 👋 thanks for reaching out! I can step in for Ashley and Justin in their absence, here.

So sorry for the trouble with your domain! How long has it been since you've initiated the transfer? Domain transfers into Square Online store can sometimes become delayed, using resolving within 48 hours. Also, what specific browser are you using when working with your site.

I will keep an eye out for your response!

Thanks Joe, my browser is safari but I can switch it, it's been 48hr + I bought my domain through ipage and I'm connecting the website I designed with you guys. I don't know in that case who provides the SSL and if it's not you guys I will take it up with them. I also tried yesterday to unpublished and then republish my page so will that restart the 48hr waiting period?

Thanks for the prompt reply, @Jenflowers9 - this definitely makes sense, but still odd that the issue has not resolved itself. Republishing would be worth a shot, it should have no affect towards the potential delay of the SSL.

Let us know where you landed with your purchaser. If you continue to have issues, I would recommend flagging this over to our Support Team directly whenever you can.
