Hi, I'm with Tracfone, started with a cheap LG phone and moved up to a Samsung Galaxy, the old phone was not compatible, is it Tracfone and not that actual phone that isn't compatible?
Square shouldn't/doesn't care how you're getting your internet. You just need a phone running a recent enough version of Android to download/run the Square App from the Google Play Store. You need a devicxe running Android 4.0 or higher.

Thank you! My little LG phone was Android 4.0 but was not compatible (according to Square's compatiblity page). My new phone is a Samsung Galaxy s5 (yup, kinda old, too) and it runs on Android 4.4.2 so I guess I'm confused but that's OK! As long as I can download the Point of Sale App, which I did so hopefully I can make it work!
@Bruckner glad to hear you were able to download Point of Sale!
If you run into any issues feel free to reply back here. 😀
Thank you! The only question I have is when I ran my own card through to set up the account, it wouldn't read the card when I swiped it, I had to put the numbers in manually and I know there's a bigger fee for that. Any way to remedy this?
@Bruckner we have another thread on the Seller Community about troubleshooting your Square Magstripe Reader. Check it out!😀
