Does Point of Sale have a feature that handles rental items?

The title of this thread was updated from its original title: “Can I make a button for rental items in point of sale app?”.

I have an item that I rent out but it has limited quantity. Is thee a way for me to create a button in my point of sale app that my employees can easily see how many of that item is available to be rented out?

Unfortunatly there is no way of doing this with Square currently.

@RHatch is right, we don't have a way to view inventory directly from the app at this time. This will have to be managed outside of the Point of Sale app.

It's nearly a year later and I'd love to bump this requested Feature in PoS.

I do rentals as a business that does Audio and Video work for events. We do rentals as well as labor and I've been using PoS for years to do it. I ended up using Square because it was such an asset in my photography business however when we rent, or attempt to manage inventory across locations we largely have to do it all outside of Square and then use Square PoS and Invoices for the billing.

It seems like PoS could easily have a conversion that would allow for the stock option to track items given out and returned and this would help open up the platform to a whole host of businesses that do rentals or limited leasing of stock.

I would like to set up some inventory for customers to rent at my store.  I know I can scan the barcode info on the item, but I would like it to have a different # like a library code scan.  I would also like to know how I can set it up so the customer can be alerted to bring back the item they rented.  Is this something that is already possible to set up?
